2013 BMW X1 Crossover

The facelift comes after some two-and-a-half years and more than 275,000 worldwide sales of the compact X model that is built at BMW plant's in Leipzig, Germany and in Tiexi, China.

For the first time, the X1 will be avalaible in the U.S. with prices starting from $31,545 for the rear-wheel drive X1 sDrive28i, while the all-wheel drive X1 xDrive28i and X1 xDrive35i cost $33,245 and $39,345 respectively (including $895 destination and handling). BMW said that the X1 will arrive in U.S. dealerships this fall.

The cosmetic tweaks on the outside include redesigned bumpers, a larger double-kidney grille, revised headlamps, sleeker mirror housings and new alloy wheel designs.

Inside, BMW has revised the trim for the gearlever surround, cup holder and headlamp switch, while the driver’s side of the angled center console is now shallower, and covered with a higher quality material.

The engine portfolio for the North American model includes two turbocharged gasoline engines, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit for the sDrive28i and xDrive28i producing 240hp and 260 lb-ft for a 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint in 6.2 and 6.3 seconds respectively, and a 3.0-liter inline-six with 300hp and 300 lb-ft for the xDrive35i that hits 60mph in 5.3 seconds.

The sDrive28i and xDrive28i models are fitted with an 8-speed auto and return 24 mpg city/33 mpg highway/27 mpg combined and 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway/25 mpg combined respectively.
The xDrive35i makes do with a 6-speed auto, while EPA mileage estimates for this model are 18 mpg city/27 mpg highway/21 mpg combined.

Rimac Concept_One Pure-Electric Hypercar

The Croatian company plans to build 88 examples of the Concept_One, each carrying a base price of €750,000 or about US$990,000 at today's exchange rates.

While other competitors in this price range go for gasoline-powered engines, Rimac fitted the Concept_One with a complex electric driveline that includes four sub-systems, each consisting of one motor, inverter and reduction gearbox. Each of the four systems powers a wheel. The electric powetrain's combined output is 1,073hp (1,088PS) and 1,600Nm (1,180 lb-ft).

Rimac says that the Concept_One tips the scales at 1,650 kilos (3,638 lbs) and can reach 100 km/h (62mph) from a standstill in 2.8 seconds while topping out at 305 km/h (190mph). According to the company, the 92kWh battery provides a driving range of up to 600 kilometers (373 miles).

The Concept_One's carbon-fibre body was designed by Adriano Mudri while the interior is the work of a team of former Pininfarina employees, led by Goran Popović, with Bulgarian design studio Vilner offering a helping hand.

Ferrari F70 Supercar

The Ferrari F70 that was penned by industrial designer and current employee of Pininfarina's German subsidiary in Rüsselsheim, Constantin-Gabriel Radu.

The concept borrows elements from both the Ferrari 458 Italia as well as the previous Enzo, combining curves with hard creases and a teardrop glasshouse. If this design were to be produced, we would imagine that the car would obtain more air vents both on the sides and more importantly, on the rear end.

Before we let you flip through the rest of the images, we will remind you that at last week's Beijing Motor Show, Ferrari previewed its new Hy-Kers hybrid system that's bound for the Enzo's successor and which links a V12 engine to a pair of electric motors, one to power the car's auxiliary systems, and the other to drive the rear wheels.

It is believed that that combined output of the twelve cylinder engine and the electric motor will surpass the 900-horsepower mark.
