2016 GMC Terrain

The GMC Terrain and its more luxurious version, the Terrain Denali, have been updated for the 2016 model year with minor styling changes and new equipment.

Debuting at the New York Auto Show, the 2016 GMC Terrain features a series of exterior updates including new front and rear fascias with C-shaped lower chrome trim, new chrome-accented grille designs for SLE, SLT and Denali, a power dome hood, LED daytime running lamps on higher models, as well as new 18- and 19-inch aluminum wheel designs. Furthermore, the 2016 Terrain is now available with new White Frost Tricoat and Crimson Red Tintcoat exterior colors.

On the inside, the 2016 GMC Terrain gets a revised instrument panel center stack with new storage shelf and updated control graphics, new chrome-trimmed transmission shifter, as well as premium cloth seat fabric now standard on SL and SLE models. SLT models get an available Saddle Up leather interior and a front passenger eight-way power-adjustable seat, while Denali models get a new Light Titanium/Jet Black interior combination.

Equipment updates include the Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert driving assist systems, offered on SLE and SLT models for the first time. The 2016 GMC Terrain features a revised model lineup, consisting of SL, SLE (SLE-1 and SLE-2), SLT and Denali trim levels.

Nothing changes under the hood, with the SUV coming with a standard 182hp Ecotec 2.4-liter engine or an optional 301hp 3.6-liter V6 unit.

The 2016 Terrain goes on sale this fall, with pricing to be announced closer to its commercial debut. GMC says Terrain had its best year ever in 2014 with 105,016 sales, with the model also enjoying its best-ever January and February sales this year. Terrain is GMC’s second-best selling vehicle, after Sierra.

2013 GMC Acadia

The exterior redesign brings a new front end with a more prominent and upright grille with three-bars that was previewed by GMC's recent concept models like the Sierra HD All-Terrain, along with LED running lamps, and new headlamp and bumper designs.

At the back, we find new taillamps, a re-sculptured bumper, a wrap-around rear glass and a new rear spoiler, while GMC also introduced a fresh set of 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels.

According to GMC, the interior benefits from upgraded soft-touch materials, with French stitching and a red ambient light that flows across the dashboard.

The top-of-the-line Acadia Denali enhances the crossover's updated looks with bespoke exterior and interior parts such as the 20-inch machined wheels, the polished grille, interior wood trims and leather seating.

Another highlight is the introduction of the GMC’s new front center air bag system that deploys from the inboard side of the driver’s seat and positions itself between the driver and front passenger.

Even though the Acadia continues for the 2013MY with the same 288-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 that offers a towing capacity is 5,000 pounds (2268 kg), it gets a new Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission with better shift response and improved drivability.

The updated Acadia and Acadia Denali will arrive in showrooms across the U.S. in late 2012.
