2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 Sedan

Stuttgart's answer to the BMW M3 is the new 2015 Mercedes-AMG C63 and C63 S sedans that will go on sale in the USA this April starting at $63,900, not including a $925 destination fee (*).

This will get you in the C63 AMG that is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 producing 469hp (476PS) and 479 lb-ft of peak torque, while if you're in need of more oomph, there's the C63 AMG S that has a tuned version of the same unit returning 503hp (510PS) and 516 lb-ft of torque for $71,900 plus destination.

According to Mercedes, these are the standard features and optional extras for the two high-performance sedans (sorry America, you won't be getting that gorgeous Estate):

Standard equipment includes a hand-built AMG V8 engine, Burmester Surround Sound system, KEYLESS-GO, Collisions Prevention Assist Plus (with autonomous braking in emergency situations), ATTENTION ASSIST driver drowsiness monitor, AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-Speed Sport Transmission with multiple shift modes, AMG DYNAMIC SELECT, Touchpad, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Rear Limited Slip Differential (C63 is mechanical while C63 S is electronic), Power/heated/memory seats, AMG Dynamic Exhaust, AMG Adaptive Suspension with 3 selectable modes, AMG 3-Stage ESP system, 18" staggered alloy wheels (C63) and 19" staggered alloy wheels (C63 S), LED headlamps, dynamic engine mounts (C63 S only, same as the Mercedes-AMG GT S), nappa leather (C63 S only), and red brake calipers (C63 S only).

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe 680 HP

The Bavarian tuning house begins with the C63 AMG's 6.2-liter V8 that gains a supercharger along with a revised ECU, a water intercooling system and a new exhaust bumping output from 457HP and 600Nm to 680-horses and 840Nm (619 lb-ft) of peak torque.

Vath says that the extra muscle helps the C63 AMG Coupe trim the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time to 4 seconds flat while offering a top speed of 335 km/h (208 mph).

A new high-performance brake system with 380-mm discs along with an adjustable coilover suspension that allows for a 20-65 mm drop in ride height, help the C63 AMG Coupe cope with the additional horsepower.

On the outside, the coupe gets a carbon front spoiler, a carbon-fiber rear diffuser with enlarged fins and a boot lip spoiler for improved the aerodynamics, while it rides on new 20 inch wheels wrapped in 255/20 tires on the front axle, and 295/25 on the rear.

Inside the cabin, the sports steering wheel features new trim with wood or carbon fiber applications, a 360km/h speedometer and some more carbon fiber appliques on the dashboard and door panels.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2012 C63 AMG Coupe ahead of its public debut at the New York Auto Show next month - finally a true competitor to the BMW M3.

Just like the C63 AMG sedan and wagon variants, power output stays the same via a 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 engine with 451 hp (336 kW / 457 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. Connected through a seven-speed SpeedShift MCT transmission, the coupe dashes from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, also the same as the C63 sedan. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) while fuel consumption using the combined NEDC figures remains a thirsty 12.0 L/100km. The optional AMG Performance Package increases output to 480 hp (358 kW / 487 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. The additional 30 horsepower enables the coupe to sprint from 0-100 km/h one-tenth of a second faster to 4.4 seconds.

When the C63 AMG Coupe launchs in Europe this July, an exclusive "Edition 1" will also be available with exclusive equipment. The Edition 1 features AMG sports seats, door panel centers and armrests upholstered in black designo leather with contrasting porcelain seams on the sports seats. Also, other trim pieces have a porcelain piano-lacquer look. The AMG performance steering wheel has been given a two-tone wrap using black nappa leather with the lower section in porcelain designo leather. Naturally, "Edition 1" badges are seen throughout. On the outside, AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in matt black give a unique look. As an option, the standard metallic paintwork can be swapped for a matt finish in designo magno night black or diamond white metallic BRIGHT.

Prices including 19 percent VAT in Germany for the C63 AMG coupe is €72,590 while the C63 AMG Coupe Edition 1 is €77,231. The optional AMG Performance package is €7116.20.
The new coupe makes its U.S. showroom debut in September 2011. Pricing will most likely be announced at its public debut in New York.
