Formula 1: Ferrari to Unveil its 2012 Car on February 7

The 2011 Formula 1 season is certainly one Ferrari would like to forget. Despite former champion Fernando Alonso giving it his best, in the end the Scuderia had only one win to show and a poor third place in the constructors’ championship.

Ferrari’s head of communication, Luca Colajanni, told Italian publication Autosprint that the 2012 car, upon which the Scuderia has focused its resources since August, will be revealed at the first official test of the new season on February 7 at Jerez racetrack in Spain.

Colajanni added that it will be “very different” from the F150o Italia – which doesn’t really come as a surprise, given that this year’s car was clearly inferior to the Red Bull and the McLaren.

"The new Ferrari F1 car will be presented in early February, in time to take part in the first test session ahead of the season", he said. "At the moment it's not important to say whether the new project is going to be extreme. For sure, it will be a clean break with the past, a very different program, because it aims to win and marks a change of mentality by the entire team."

1978 VW Beetle 5,7 Liter V8

The owner of this modified Bug tried to keep the looks of the car as close to stock as possible, but underneath, it's a completely different story.
This DIY project is said to combine the body shell of a 1978 Beetle with a 1993 Chevrolet S-10 front frame and a 1989 Ford Mustang rear end, while power is provided by a Chevrolet small block 350 (5.7-liters) V8 engine.
Not the kind of vehicle you'd like to take a trip in but nevertheless, an impressive ride for a quick run around the block.

Lotus Caterham 7

Diseno-Art has drawn up a nice design study in the form of the “New 7”, a vehicle designed to expand and complement the existing range of 7-badged vehicles.

With larger proportions and more refinement than the archaic (yet still beautiful) lines of the current generation, the New 7 is designed to be uniquely tailored to each customer’s needs and offer a high level of customer service while still holding to the brand’s philosophy of lightweight, simple and fun.

The New 7 incorporates body parts that are easily removable for maintenance, a direct injection four-cylinder engine (with room for a variety of other types of engine at the client’s request), rear wheel drive and a manual transmission. It’s all very believable and not as farfetched as some of the design study’s we’ve featured on the site before.
