2016 Nissan GT-R

Another year, another model year update (the ninth, since its launch in 2007), for Nissan's GT-R supercar that is now available as a 2016MY in the USA.

Prices remain the same as last year for the three 2016 GT-R models at $101,770 for the Base Premium, $111,510 for the Black Edition and $149,990 for the NISMO.

The Base and Premium GT-Rs benefit from a 5hp increase to 550PS or 542hp through some fine-tuning of the VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6's electronics, while peak torque is unchanged at 463 lb-ft. Fuel economy is rated at 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway.

Power ratings for the GT-R NISMO remain unchanged for the 2016MY at 600PS or 592hp.

The only other updates are the new 20-spoke alloy wheels for the GT-R Premium and a new limited-availability 45th Anniversary Gold Edition with special exterior paint color named "Silica Brass" that harks back to the 2001 Skyline GT-R M-Spec (R34 Type) and which is offered exclusively as a $1,000 option on the Premium model.

Nissan said that fewer than 30 examples of the Gold Edition are slated for the US this year, adding that the limited model will also get a special gold-tone VIN plate located inside the engine compartment and a special commemorative plaque on the center console inside.

Toyota GT86 by TRD

Only 250 examples of the car will be offered in the UK, with sales to start from 1 March at on-the-road prices set at £31,495 for the 6-speed manual model and £32,995 for the 6-speed automatic version.

Available in a choice of two colours, Pearl White and GT86 Black, the TRD-prepped model won't bring any engine upgrades over the regular model, as the focus is on improving the GT86's styling and aerodynamics.

The TRD package includes 18-inch cast TF6 alloys, deep front and side skirts, a rear bumper spoiler and a quad-exhaust system with a rear diffuser on the outside, plus a branded radiator cap and fuel filler cover and a new TRD gearshift lever on the inside.

Since there are no engine mods, the GT86 TRD's acceleration and maximum speed remain unchanged at 7.7 seconds for 0-62mph (100km/h) and 140mph (225km/h) for the manual and 8.4 seconds and 130mph (209km/h) for the automatic.

Ferrari F620 GT

The F620 GT, wasn't supposed to come out in the open before February 29, as stated in the company's teaser videos.

However, we don't have to wait that long for our first look at Ferrari's new supercar model as a reader of GTSpitrit was able to take a quick shot of the car during what appears to be some sort of a presentation.

The new model adopts a similar design language to the Ferrari FF with curved fenders and a large grille up front, behind which you'll find what the Italian automaker describes as the most powerful engine ever to be used in a regular production Ferrari.

The new F620GT is believed to share many components with the FF, including an upgraded version of its V12 powerplant.

Ferrari's new supercar, which will take on the likes of the Lamborghini Aventador, will receive its world premiere at the upcoming 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.

1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Scaglietti

Audi R8 GT Spyder

The R8 GT Coupe, while also gaining a more powerful version of the Lamborghini-derived 5.2-liter V10 churning out an output of 560-horsepower.

In the coupe, Ingolstadt’s engineers were able to shave 100 kilograms (220.46 lb) dropping the car’s curb weight of to,525 kilograms (3,362.05 lb), and improving the power-to-weight ratio to 2.72 kilograms (6.00 lb) per hp. Expect to see a similar weight reduction (and by that we mean close, not more) in the convertible model. For the record, the coupe flavored R8 GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h (199 mph).

Though absent from the prototype model seen here, the actual R8 GT Spyder will get the same aero package as it’s coupe sibling comprising of new front and rear bumpers with additional air vents.

From what we understand, Audi will follow the example of the coupe and keep production of the R8 GT Spyder limited to 333 units worldwide.
